Arriving on Kea
From Korissia, the island's capital Ioulida (Chora) is up the hill inland. Hellenic Seaways describes it spread across three hills, with neoclassical houses, marble fountains and covered passages (stegadia). East of the town, the Lion of Kea, about 8 metres long, is carved out of the rock and dates from the Archaic period (7th–6th century BC).

Walking and beaches
Kea has twelve waymarked ancient paths, listed by the Kea agency and Hellenic Seaways; the Aristaios trail follows the old route between Ioulida and ancient Karthaia. Hellenic Seaways names Otzias as the island's longest beach, in a sheltered bay, and Vourkari as the fishing harbour next to Korissia.
